Aspiring Deputy and Head Teacher Programme


We are delighted to let you know of our South-West London School Effectiveness Partnership (SWLSEP) delivered, aspiring Deputy and Head Teacher programme for 2016-17. This is the 10th year that our local boroughs have worked together in targeting and supporting all of our aspiring deputies and head teachers.

What is being offered?

  • A one-day Autumn conference, including key note speakers and the opportunity to hear from current Deputies and Head Teachers, who have recently made the move
  • A parallel mentoring programme for all participants, to support, encourage and coach individuals as they move towards next steps promotion
  • A sequence of practical workshops at local Teaching Schools, to support participants in developing both strategic and practical skills
  • A series of twilight and half-day leadership workshops to provide confidence in managing different whole school issues
  • A follow up Summer conference focusing on participants identified needs and requests

  • Financial cycles and budgets
  • The application progress
  • Interview skills and questions
  • Managing difficult conversations
  • Managing whole school performance management
  • Hearing different career stories
